I read Best Day of Someone Else's Life by Kerry Reichs based on recommendation. The book follows Kevin "Vi" Connelly as she goes from enchanted with weddings (she attends 14 in one year!) To disillusioned with the institution of marriage. The real question becomes, what beliefs are you ready to let go of when you meet the right person?
If you've ever planned a wedding or been in a wedding you will identify with the stories Vi tells about her wedding adventures and you will laugh at the ridiculousness of some of the situations because of how true they ring. For me, however, it was hard to understand the notion that marriage changes things and makes you try less to make the relationship work so it got hard to identify with Vi.
However, this book was such an enjoyable read. Although I will say this, if it would have ended any differently I might have burned the book and cursed the hours I spent reading. The book is a reflection of our times and modern relationships and a reminder that love, regardless of whether it is bound by marriage or not, requires work.
