Maggie Stiefvater's Linger picks up where Shiver left off, except that the cast of narrators has expanded. Instead of just reading Grace's and Sam's thoughts, you also are privy to the thoughts of wolf newcomer Cole and Shiver's Isabel. As with Shiver, the the antagonist is the shift from human to wolf, but this time it isn't Sam that needs to be saved from the shift, it's Grace. The love story between Sam and Grace continues and I was often left in awe of how their relationship was described because of how mature it sounded.
The book is beautifully written. It is deep and profound but so easy to read. The ending is what I expected but not how I expected. At the end of the book you are left with a sense of wanting and hope. More than anything, you are left wondering how the story will end and if Stiefvater will be able to make a unique story out of a wolf genre that is so full of lore.
