At my last doctor's appointment I had to do something I was dreading. The weeks leading up to this appointment saw me eating very little sweets, which was incredibly hard since what I have been wanting to eat the most are sweets. If I could, I would eat chocolate cake or apple pie all day long. Not only was I dreading bloodwork, but I was also dreading having to drink the Glucose Drink for the glucose tolerance test. Most of the reactions to this drink are either summed up with the words gross, gag, intolerable, and disgusting. Would I be able to drink the sweet stuff? Once the bottle was brought in my plan of attack was to chug it. I thought I could get it all down in one chug, but no. The sweet hit me, made me stop, and made me reconsider the chug-it approach. I took a second gulp and finished the drink off. I felt slightly light headed and nauseated afterward, which are normal reactions. Those feelings went away after a few minutes. So what do I have to say about this drink? Drink it cold and drink it fast. I got the Lemon Lime flavor and it tasted like flat, Sprite syrup. I really hope I don't need to do the 3-hour test. I've had enough of this sweet stuff for the year.
Has anyone ever drank this and actually liked it?

It was several years ago, but I had orange and didn't mind it. I'm also a huge fan of sweets (and a TWD baker, which is how I found your blog). My complaint about that test was that I was so hungry. I ran to the bagel shop after that!
I have four boys. Have done the test four times (duh) (I think they were all with the orange drink). I already don't care for regular sugar soft drinks so I thought the glucose drinks were pretty horrible. And to top it all off, I had to do the 3-hour test I think 3 out of the four times! Praying you don't have to!
I thought they tell you to sip it slowly, but drink it all within 5 minutes?
I have never been gestational-diabetic after the three hour test results. Thank goodness! I'd go insane without some sweets.
Have a great Thanksgiving.
