TWD: Banana Loaf

This week Ashlee from A Year in the Kitchen chose Dorie's Banana Loaf for us TWDers to make. I am so thankful she chose this because my kitchen and my stomach have been in need of a dessert with fruit in it to make up for the last few weeks of baking duds. This loaf definitely made up for all those fruit desserts that I didn't like. The loaf was delicious and moist, although I didn't find it to be too banana-y. I felt that the chocolate overpowered the banana flavor. I should have known better that Dorie would be giving regular banana bread an interesting spin.

Smartly so, I halved the recipe. There's no way Alex and I could have eaten the amount made with the whole recipe. Because we like things in small sizes (miniature poodle, tiny apartment, the list goes on) I made mini loaves. The loaves were so cute and perfect for breaking this dessert evenly into two. There was no fighting over portion sizes in this City Eater's household.

Don't forget to check out Ashlee's blog for the recipe and the TWD site to see what everyone else thought about this week's selection.

I love your marbled swirl on the right, so fabulous!!! And is a banana REALLY a fruit? I mean ... it's more like a veggie right? That's what I tell myself because I was so happy this was NOT a fruit recipe this week.

I love your mini loaves! Wish I'd thought about halving this recipe. Hate to say it, but I'm sick of all this baked fruit!

Looks great! You have great marbling. And thanks for posting a mouse tale on my blog. You are right...they are quick and while they look cute, you don't want one in your house! :)
