I bring you a non-alcoholic beverage today for POM Week. I rediscovered our blender the other day and knew I wanted to make a smoothie with the pomegranate juice. Everything fell into place when my mother-in-law brought us some bananas and we forgot to eat them right away causing them to ripen beyond the point of eating the banana alone. I came across this recipe and was happy to make use of the bananas. The smoothie is light, but filling. The banana hit my tongue first but the tartness of the pomegranate juice is what lingered.
POM Drink Week Reminder: I was sent a box of POM Wonderful juices and asked to create drink recipes. I was very happy about this because I am a huge fan of pomegranate juice and an even bigger fan of trying out new recipes. I tried out a few recipes (all good, but not all winners) and will be sharing a new recipe with you each day this week.

Pom Banana Smoothie
Source: Food & Wine (here)
1 cup plain nonfat yogurt, well chilled
1 cup pure pomegranate juice (fresh squeezed or bottled fresh), well chilled
1 large bananas, thickly sliced crosswise
In a blender, combine the chilled nonfat yogurt with the pomegranate juice. Add the sliced bananas and puree. Pour the smoothie into tall, chilled glasses and serve at once.
Enjoy!
